Cellular Automata Simulation Design for Ecosystem Exploration
Meat Simulation Earth
Just upgraded Simulation Earth 🌍 with a creative twist: Settlers of Catan-inspired hexagons! The latest video showcases 100 days in a simulated ecosystem, revealing the simulator's vast capabilities. From the intricacies of romantic dating to the complexities of traffic jams, this tool models it all. Wondering how traffic patterns, temperature fluctuations, and dating dynamics intersect? The answer lies in the connection between the micro and macro, the essence of complex systems theory.
In my previous post [https://lnkd.in/dJdhUusb], I delved into the simulator’s foundation: the idea that complex behaviors emerge from simple interactions. Consider traffic: each car’s movement influences the flow, mimicking the butterfly effect. Similarly, replacing "trees" with turns or "temperature" with the number of cars demonstrates how small changes can have significant impacts.
Dating dynamics? Imagine cells as potential dates, with rules dictating interactions ("If cell 'A' is free and in state 'X', then cell 'B' becomes 'engaged', etc."). The intrigue lies in discovering how a single cell’s status can ripple through the system, influenced by and influencing others in turn.
Curious about the intricacies of these interconnected systems? Dive into the simulation and experiment with your own rules: github.com/Dor-sketch/simulation-earth
